Oak English herringbone — classic pattern, modern construction

Natural oak in a herringbone layout. We produce English herringbone with an oak top layer and water-resistant birch plywood — in 150 colours, three selection grades and any surface texture.

ComfortPlus English herringbone

A classic layout that organises the interior and adds rhythm

English herringbone is one of those patterns that does not need fashion to feel current. It gives a clear rhythm without feeling visually heavy. In a calm colour it becomes an elegant background, while in a stronger grade it becomes the main feature of the interior.

At ComfortPlus, English herringbone is made from an oak top layer and water-resistant birch plywood — the same quality logic as straight plank, with a different laying rhythm.

0113 mm thickness — 4 mm oak top layer, 9 mm plywood
02Lengths 490, 600 and 900 mm
03Widths 70, 100 and 130 mm or custom size
04150 colours, three selection grades, three textures

Rhythm that works with architecture

The laying direction, element width and light decide whether herringbone calms the interior or gives it a more representative character.

Herringbone in different interiors

One pattern, many characters

Light herringbone brightens and enlarges the space. Dark herringbone builds mood and elegance. The pattern works in every style — from modern minimalism to classic apartments.

Stability and use

The same finishing standard, a different floor rhythm

English herringbone uses the same finishing logic as straight plank — engineered construction, hardwax oil or lacquer, and underfloor heating without restrictions.

01

Underfloor heating

The engineered construction ensures stability on a heating system.

02

Pattern precision

The shorter 600 mm element gives a clear herringbone rhythm in the interior.

03

Bevelling

The bevel highlights each element and brings out the pattern geometry in side light.

04

Renovation

A 4 mm oak top layer gives room for refreshing after years of use.

Execution detail

Detail, light and the way the floor connects with architecture

In English herringbone, the pattern itself is not the only thing that matters. Premium effect comes from edges, bevels, the way light works on the surface and how the floor meets walls, stairs and built-in furniture.

A well-chosen colour and texture cannot be separated from execution detail — it is the detail that makes the whole floor look calm and natural in the interior.

Herringbone knowledge

Three topics that lead to a decision

Clients ask not only about colour and price — they ask about the history of the pattern, interior optics and care of a bevelled surface.

English herringbone or French and Hungarian chevron?

Each herringbone pattern gives the interior a different character. Classic English herringbone creates a calm and timeless rhythm, while French 45° and Hungarian 60° chevron introduce more dynamic geometry. We produce all patterns in oak, in over 150 colours, with installation possible on underfloor heating and cooling.
