French and Hungarian chevron create a characteristic V line thanks to precise angled cutting of the short sides. The French 45° version gives a stronger, more dynamic drawing, while the Hungarian 60° version leads the pattern more calmly and broadly.

French or Hungarian chevron — what is the difference between 45° and 60°?
Both patterns belong to the chevron family, but they build the interior’s proportions and rhythm differently. The angle should be matched to room width, viewing axes and the desired effect.
45°
French herringbone
A sharper V and more dynamic rhythm. It works well in representative living rooms, apartments and interiors where the floor should be a strong design feature.

We make Comfort Plus French and Hungarian chevron as a 13 mm engineered board: 4 mm oak layer and 9 mm water-resistant birch plywood. The construction limits wood movement and is suitable for installation on underfloor heating.

French chevron has elements cut at 45° and creates a sharper, more dynamic V. Hungarian chevron uses a 60° angle, so its line is wider, calmer and more fluid.
Are French and Hungarian chevron suitable for underfloor heating?
Yes. The 13 mm engineered construction, full bonding to the substrate and properly prepared installation allow both patterns to be safely used on underfloor heating.
How to choose the width and length of elements?
In smaller rooms a finer rhythm works well, while longer and wider elements look better in large living rooms and open day zones. Selection also depends on the laying axis and interior proportions.
Can stairs have the same colour as chevron?
Yes. We produce floors and make stairs in the same colour palette, texture and matte level, so the wood creates a coherent whole throughout the interior.
How many herringbone colours does Comfort Plus offer?
French and Hungarian chevron are available in over 150 colours from our own production and in Select/Natur, Standard and Rustic grades, with a smooth or brushed surface.
